A Tribute for a Special One

26th May 2007 marks the departure of one of the greatest teachers who have led NV Modern Dance. He is none other than our very own, Mr Tan Ken Jin. I personally first met him in late 2005 when i was working with him on a performance for Graduation Hi-Tea. I was captivated and amazed at the amount of creativity that Mr Tan has in him. He actually choreographed a dance piece for the Singapore Pledge which me and my other fabulous dance mates had to perform. It was a wacky idea but it sure attracted the attention of the audience during the big event itself. The precious moments after that very day was simply priceless.
Mr Tan has shown us a very good example and role model of someone who is humble. Born as a talented dancer, Mr Tan has sharpened his dance ability ever since joining Jitterbugs, in which he learns and specialises in Swing. He will normally teach us some of the Swing moves he has learnt and correct us if we do make any mistakes. Besides that, Mr Tan has also showed us great patience and perseverence as he helped us continue our journey in the dance field. Some of the events we worked together closely are the Golden Jubilee concert and many more.
Being the first male teacher to ever guide a team of passionate dancers is simply amazing. Mr Tan has clearly shown his ability to work with different kinds of people regardless of race, language or religion. Mr Tan not only lent his hand for dance purposes; he has also been very helpful for other activities such as the making of the Modern Dance CCA Banner. He is always there ready to help us. His sincere support will never be overlooked.
Mr Tan, you'll always be remembered in our hearts. We're greatly content with your words to continue supporting us even after your departure. Your great deads will etched in our hearts. You will be greatly missed. Your huge laughters and funny antics will never fail to carve a smile on our faces. Your wonderful dance moves will always remain as a wonderful spectacle in our minds. We'll miss you!
